Eduardo De Filippo archives
Documentary collection
Once called the San Ferdinando Theatre archives, it documents the activities of the theatre since
the 1950s, as well as the personal and artistic life of Eduardo since the very beginning of the
20 th century. It is made up of::
- playscripts
- a collection of playscripts by Eduardo and Vincenzo Scarpetta
- Neapolitan theatre manuscripts
- playscripts written in collaboration with other artists such as Pirandello, Rocca, Riccora,
Mangini, Maria Scarpetta, Curcio, Murolo and, naturally, his brother and sister, Peppino and Titina
- playscripts by other authors who sent them to Eduardo for review
- nearly 15.000 articles that the national and international press between 1930 and 1980 dedicated
to the theatre and film activities of Eduardo, as well as the brief period he spent with the Scarpettiana
and his experience at the San Ferdinando Theatre. There are also articles written by Eduardo himself and
an abundance of texts dedicated to his dramaturgy

- 3000 stage photographs
- administrative archives of the San Ferdinando Theatre and Eduardo's Company
Eduardo De Filippo Collection holds hundreds of painted backdrops, scene properties and many costumes.
Handwritten copies of his plays and letters are kept at the Contemporary Archives of the Gabinetto
Vieusseux in Florence, while a complete video documentation is kept in the University Theatre Centre
at La Sapienza University in Rome.
